Hey everyone, thanks for joining me today on the Bee High Performing Podcast. I'm your host, Brendan Eisenhock. As a mental performance coach, I help people maximize their performance in anything they do by applying game-changing psychological principles. Whether you're an athlete, a business professional, a performing artist, you name it, I can help you train your brain to reach levels of performance you never thought possible. Let's get started. And there are so many good insights that I'm gaining from it. One that I want to share is that Brianna talks about how our brains have a really strong confirmation bias that makes us want to confirm the things that we believe are true, and that applies to our limiting beliefs. So if we believe that we can't accomplish a certain thing, or that we are bad at a certain thing, not just right now, but in general, overall, that we will never be good at it. Or, you know, that we have X, Y, or Z quality that we are never going to overcome. If we believe that, our brains then want to seek confirmation that that is true. And I would add to that that we have some other biases too. One that I've noticed that we have is a negativity bias. It's so much easier for the brain to latch on to negative possibilities rather rather than positive possibilities. So even if we have a better chance of getting the positive outcome, the thing that we want, accomplishing the goal, accomplishing the dream, making the change in our life, even if there's a better chance of that than the other side of not getting those things, our brains seem to really put high odds on the negatives, on bad things happening, on good things not happening. And we just fixate on that. And then another one that we have is just we have a bias to stay consistent with whatever we see as our current identity or kind of the whatever character we're playing right now. Our brains really want to stay consistent with that. So if you've been struggling in your sales or in your sport or in growing your business, your brain doesn't want to violate that character. You've you've been playing this character of somebody who's struggling in that field, and you don't all of a sudden want to just be thriving in that area because it would violate who that character is, who that role is that you've been playing. It would violate, excuse me, your identity. I'm really working on overcoming this cough. If anybody has ideas for getting over this cough, I've had it for quite a while now. Um, so I apologize. But with that in mind, it's really important to ask ourselves: what have I been doing to unintentionally, probably, to prove that my limiting beliefs are true? So think of a limiting belief that you have, some sort of belief about what you cannot accomplish, what you'll never be able to do, what's permanently wrong with you, etc. And what have you been doing, actions-wise, behavior-wise, things that you have been doing or things that you have been failing to do because of that belief. And as you do those things or fail to do certain things, it then reinforces the belief, right? Because then you make it more likely that the negative outcomes will happen and less likely that the positive outcomes will happen. So, what have you been doing to make it more likely that your limiting beliefs will actually be proven true? And as you gain awareness on that, then you can ask yourself, what am I going to start doing, to stop doing, and what am I going to adjust in some way to start proving a new belief to be true? To start proving that I can do this, to start proving that I can crush it in my sport. I can be the best on the team. I can get to a higher team and a better team and thrive. I can be the best in the world. To I can I can have a thriving business. I can crush it in sales. I can be a killer in sales. I can be so, so good. I can crush it in whatever this thing is. I can make this change in my life. What actions are you going to take to start proving that that belief is true? And separate from the outcomes itself. Don't, you know, don't worry about how am I going to prove outcomes-wise that this is true, but just how am I going to prove just through my actions that this is through, that this is true? How am I going to take action in accordance with this new belief? And you'll find that as you do that, the positive outcomes become so much more likely to happen. And you start to build much more empowering beliefs, and you're able to accomplish so much more in your work, in your sport, in your sales, in your performance area, and you're able to get so much more out of yourself and truly create the life that you want.
